The Red Hat Sales team is looking for an Account Manager to join us in Kolkata, India. In this role, you will focus on state governments and non-profit markets. You’ll have an exciting opportunity to help shape and deliver on the strategy to build awareness and broad use of Red Hat’s offerings and services.
Your responsibilities will include helping to define key public sector market segments to target, building the necessary business and technical relationships with customers and partners to create new Red Hat business, and guiding the day-to-day interactions with prospective customers in order to build long-term business relationships.
You’ll work closely with the product and services teams to help them improve our offerings and services, and address issues, concerns, and requests from the field. As an Account Manager, you’ll need to have a business background that will enable you to guide engagements and interact with high-level government officials. You’ll need to have a record of consistent business performance.
You should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, offerings, and technical challenges, as well as the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions and work cross-organizationally to build consensus. You’ll need to have a keen sense of ownership and ability to achieve your goals.

Primary job responsibilities:
⇛Generate and qualify leads at scale and close business
⇛Participate in government procurement process through tenders and requests for proposals (RFPs)
⇛Position Red Hat’s offerings and services on rate contracts of state nodal bodies
⇛Help define the Red Hat government, education, non-profit market segments, customer base, and industry verticals to target
⇛Set state-wide account and territory plans for target markets and ensure they are in line with Red Hat’s strategic direction
⇛Carry out state plans while working with key internal stakeholders, e.g., solutions architects, consulting, service, legal, support, etc.
⇛Identify specific prospective customers and partners to approach while communicating the value proposition for their business and use cases
⇛Fill the sales pipeline by engaging with prospective customers, partners, and key Red Hat customers
⇛Understand the technical requirements of our customers and work closely with internal development teams to guide the direction of offerings for developers and operations teams
⇛Understand and make use of tools and other internal Red Hat systems
⇛Prepare and present business reviews to the management team regarding progress and setbacks
⇛Develop long-term strategic partnerships in support of key markets
⇛Grow the business to develop an independent territory
⇛Manage government, education, and non-profit accounts and apply your knowledge of solutions-oriented business development
⇛10+ years of business development experience in the technology industry
⇛Several years of experience with positioning cloud services to customers
⇛Relevant technical knowledge including fundamentals of private, public and hybrid cloud, virtualization, developer tools, middleware, and management tools
⇛Motivated with ability to work in fast paced environments and follow through on tasks
⇛Experience in engaging with C-level management
⇛Understanding of government procurement contract procedures
⇛Excellent communication skills with ability to earn respect of team members and customers
⇛Ability to work effectively across internal and external teams
⇛Ability to work in accordance with our vision, mission, and established goals
⇛Technical and analytical skills
⇛Several years of experience with government sales
